An antioxidant is a substance that fights oxidation to counteract the deterioration of biologic materials such as stored fruits and vegetables, or our skin and hair cells. Antioxidants such as Vitamin C or Vitamin E remove potentially damaging oxidizing agents in a living organism, known as free radicals.
Antioxidants are man-made or natural substances that may prevent or delay some types of cell damage. Antioxidants are found in many foods, including fruits and vegetables. They are also available as dietary supplements. Algae and spirulina in particular are a great source of antioxidants.
