In algae cultivation, a culture medium is a liquid substance that contains nutrients in which microorganisms like spirulina, chlorella, and many other types of algae, are cultivated. The feeding liquid is applied after each harvest to allow the regrowth of algae.
Spirulina platensis and spirulina maxima can be grown in a different culture medium compositions, such as Zarrouk’s medium, The Delhi Mix (RM6), as well as our organic formulation which uses cheap and widely available ingredients. In addition to the culture medium, light, ph, temperature, and aeration are also important factors for maintaining a healthy spirulina culture.
